ELECTRICAL SAFETY ON THE PSP SOUTHAMPTON BOAT SHOW MARINA
We take safety on the Marina at the PSP Southampton Boat Show very seriously! This is a large temporary electrical installation, and the supply to each berth (where ordered) is protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD).
As part of a temporary installation, the amount of power available on the Marina is limited, and we have to work out the electrical distribution carefully.
It was apparent in 2008, that some Exhibitors are using one marina socket to power more than one boat. This is a direct contravention of the Conditions of Supply. It is also extremely dangerous!
It represents 3 hazards. Firstly, there is the tripping hazard to other Exhibitors and members of the public. Secondly, it puts mains voltages onto boats where this potential is unexpected. Thirdly, it overloads the carefully designed engineering of the overall distribution.
Please ensure that you DO NOT allow your staff to share power between boats. Any exhibitor found sharing power in this way WILL HAVE THEIR ELECTRICAL SUPPLY DISCONNECTED.
Please also ensure that your boat(s) are electrically tested BEFORE arriving at the Show. Any boat wishing to connect to shore power must have their own flexible lead, and must have been tested and certified to have zero resistance between all phase conductors and earth.
SHARING OF POWER BETWEEN BOATS IS DANGEROUS AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED!
