ELECTRICAL SAFETY AT THE PSP SOUTHAMPTON BOAT SHOW

We have provided temporary electrics at the Show for the past 40 years without any reported incident. This is not just down to luck! Our distribution equipment and cables are designed for these type of environments, and we have many years experience in their installation.

All circuits are protected by RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICES (RCD’s) of varying ratings and types. These RCD’s are designed to ‘trip’ and disconnect the relevant circuit if they sense any small electrical ‘leakage’ to earth. Obviously there is a lot of  potential leakage about at outside events! As such, RCD’s can trip almost when they feel like it. The moral here is for you to use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) if you have sensitive data that you need to protect in the event of a sudden and unexpected loss of power.

Remember also that there is NO MAINS POWER available for BUILD UP or BREAK DOWN of the events. You must use either battery powered tools (you can recharge batteries at any of the Security Cabins) or bring a 240 volt generator. The outgoing sockets on any generator must be protected by an RCD.
