General Information for Exhibitors

Remember that you will be an a temporary event! This means that you are in a location (either indoor or outside), where there is generally no electrical power for you to use. Our job is to provide you with the power - your job is to use it safely! You have to protect yourself and members of the public. This is your LEGAL obligation.

All circuits are protected by RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICES (RCD’s) of varying ratings and types. These RCD’s are designed to ‘trip’ and disconnect the relevant circuit if they sense any small electrical ‘leakage’ to earth. Obviously there is a lot of  potential leakage about at outside events! As such, RCD’s can trip almost when they feel like it. The moral here is for you to use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) if you have sensitive data that you need to protect in the event of a sudden and unexpected loss of power.

Your equipment needs to be safe and in good working order. Remember also that you have another legal obligation to make sure that all of your equipment is PAT tested on a regular basis.

Keep sockets up off the ground - don’t let them get wet! Ensure that any flexible leads are tidy and not where someone can trip over them. Make sure that any lights are securely fixed.

DO NOT interfere with any part of the electrical installation! It’s amazing how many people ‘used to be an electrican!’ Don’t touch it! If you have a problem, even with your equipment - let us know. If you trip a circuit off - tell us! We want to know, and we will identify the problem and restore the power as soon as possible. If we don’t know it takes a lot longer!

We are here to help! If you have any queries or need any advice - please contact us.
